Type of Chinese Tea: Black Tea-Jasmine Tea

  • Black tea background: Black tea's popularity surpasses all other teas in the Western world today, consisting 90% of all tea varieties. In China however, black tea is known as red tea due to the liquid's reddish hue. Black tea is generally stronger in flavour than green or white teas and contains more caffeine. One of the distinctive characteristic of black tea is that unlike green tea, it retains its flavour for several years.

  • Origin: Xiaguan County, Yunnan Province, China

  • Taste: This flavored black tea is blended with Jasmine flower, the taste is infused with a lovely floral fragrance that lingers in the mouth after swallowing.

  • Liquor: Bright, ruddy liquid is smooth and light weighted in the mouth.

  • Tea supplements: Vitamins A, B, C, E and K are all found in black tea. It is believed these vitamins help to prevent lung cancer and hair loss, strengthen the kidneys, enhance the immune systems and metabolism.

  • Black tea benefits: Black tea has many positive effects on health including lowering cholesterol levels, reducing inflammations, improving blood circulation and even helping the body to maintain proper blood sugar levels.

  • Tea storage: Keep the flavored black tea in a cool and dry place, avoiding direct sunlight.

  • Tea brewing : We recommend using purple clay or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Use about 2 grams of tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 100°c (212°F) for one minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time for subsequent brewing. It's important not to over brew the tea as it tends to go bitter.
