As a traditional health drink, kuding tea has a long history of more than 2000 years in China. This expensive tea was once only used as an offering to royalty.

  • Origin of name: In Chinese, "ku" means bitter, describing the taste, and "ding" means nail, or a small piece, indicating the shape of the tea leaves. Ku ding tea has a very special type of bitter taste which is sometimes hard to be accepted by new drinkers. However, the more you drink, the more you will be able to appreciate the sweet flavour accompanied by the bitterness.

  • Dry leaves appearance: This Kuding tea leaves are plucked from the top three young and tender leaves of the Kuding bush. The leaves are then twisted into a nail-like shape through a traditional drying process.

  • Smell and taste: The tea smells pure with a fresh fragrance. Bitterness is always the first impression. But the bitter taste wears off after the first sip followed by a pleasant sweet aftertaste.

  • Liquor: Clear and green liquor has an excellent clarity. The liquor is smooth and light weighted in the mouth.

  • Tea supplements: Tea contains multiple vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to your general wellbeing.

  • Tea benefits: Ku ding tea is also known as "health tea", "longevity tea" and "slim tea". Research has found that kuding tea can diminish inflammation and ease pain, clean out toxins, lowering blood pressure, and keeping the body fit. It is widely used to cure cold, itching eyes, soar throat and headache. The Tea is also proved to be very effective in weight loss.

  • Tea storage: Keep the tea in a cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight.

  • Tea brewing : Steep 2-3 tea leaves in hot spring water at 80-100 degrees for 1-2 minutes for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.
