Type of Tea: Green Tea

• Product Description: Sencha is originally from Japan. It literally means ‘roasted tea’ and pertains to the past processing methods used to make this most popular of all Japanese green teas. Today, sencha is initially steam treated before further processing with hot-air drying and finally pan-frying. It has tightly rolled, needle-shaped leaves. It is picked in early spring after the leaves have developed their balance of sweetness and astringency. The liquor is bright in color, with a clean finish, and a taste somewhat reminiscent of seaweed. True sencha green tea differs in character from most Chinese-style green teas not only with its sleek, dark green appearance but its higher green notes compared to nuttier, vegetable notes.


• Origin: Jinhua city, Zhejiang province, China.


• Tea Storage: Keep the tea in a cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight.


• Tea Brewing : Start with your favourite spring or filtered water. Preheat the tea ware. Use a large strainer basket to allow the leaves to open and release their flavour. Brew the sencha green tea (about one teaspoon per time) with hot water for 2 minutes, then serve.
