Type of Chinese Tea: Black Tea

• History: Since originating in China an unfathomable 4,000 years ago, tea has evolved into six major categories and 15,000 known varieties, including our golden tips Yunnan black tea. As the name implies, it contains only golden tips, which are usually covered in fine hairs. When viewed from a distance, this dried tea appears bright orange in colour. The tea leaves are reddish brown after being brewed. In China there's an old saying “grandfather plants and raises the tea bushes, the father harvests the tea, and the son finally gets to drink it.”


• Origin: Fengqing, Yunnan, China.


• Taste: The Yunnan black tea possesses a woody aroma with a floral sweetness. The sensation is like a gentle massage to the tongue.


• Liquor: Reddish-brown liquid is smooth and light weighted in the mouth.


• Tea supplements: Tea contains multiple vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for your general wellbeing.


• Tea benefits: Black tea has less caffeine than coffee (about half) and is a great immune system booster as well.


• Tea storage: Keep the loose black tea in a cool and dry place, avoiding direct sunlight.


• Tea brewing: Generally 2.25 grams of tea per 180ml of water should be used. Unlike green teas, which turn bitter when brewed at higher temperatures, Yunnan black tea should be steeped in freshly boiled water. Tea could be steeped 3-4 time with full flavour.
