Type of Chinese Tea: : Pu erh Tea

• Origin: Yunnan Simao District, China.


• About Pu erh Tea: Pu erh teas come from Yunnan province and improve with age. Even after 50 years some are still drinkable. They come in different shapes such as tuo cha, cake, brick and loose tea. These are teas with medicinal qualities, highly prized by the connoisseur. Tea leaves are withered, then, still slightly moist, they're heaped into piles where a bacterium creates a reaction. The leaves are then dried loose or compressed into teas or cakes. The peoples of the Yunnan-Tibet border have drunk pu erh since the Tang dynasty, according to a Song dynasty scientific reference.


• Product description: This mini tuo cha has a delightfully rich and earthy aroma. It brews to a deep brown coffee-coloured liquor with a satisfying, brinys taste and smooth finish. This tea will improve with age, and like all pu-erhs, aids in digestion and quickens recovery from fatigue or intoxication.


• Health benefits: The Pu erh Tea is purported to reduce blood cholesterol. It is also widely believed in Chinese cultures to counteract the unpleasant effects of heavy alcohol consumption. In traditional Chinese medicine, the tea is believed to invigorate the spleen and the stomach. It also contributes to weight loss.


• Tea Storage: Keep the tea in a cool and dry place, sunlight will help to mature the tea. The longer it is stored the better the flavour and the more valuable it becomes!


• Tea Brewing: Put one of tuo cha into a tea pot. Fill with boiling water and drain the water immediately to wash the leaves. Fill with hot water (90 degrees or over) again to brew for 1-2 minutes, Then serve.
